2007 Austin Summerfest


The 2007 Austin Summerfest amateur radio convention was held August 3-4, 2007 at the Wyndham Garden Hotel at IH-35 and Woodward Street in south Austin. I helped organize the DX and Contest Forum on behalf of the Central Texas DX and Contest Club.

In the hallway between the two large ballrooms, various groups had display tables. This was the display for the local Amateur Radio Emergency Service group.

At the swapfest. Maybe a fifth of the tables were empty. I always find it amusing that people are buying and selling the grungiest of ancient radio gear in a room full of chandeliers.

Tim Duffy K3LR was the keynote speaker of the DX and Contest Forum. Tim walked straight into the audience and engaged people directly.
Jay Sewell W5SL gave a presentation about his DXpedition to Botswana as A25SL.
Gary Schmidt W5ZL gave a presentation entitled "An introduction to DXing".
