Ken Harker WM5R
2003 North American QSO Party, January, Phone - K5TR M/2

In 2002, George K5TR and I operated this contest, along with last-minute help from Bob Allen KK5MI, and came in second place despite the fact that George had almost no voice for the last ten hours of the contest. Apparently, this motivated the W5NN team to do even better this year, and they really crushed us.

We had some technical problems. Neither of the W9XT contest card voice keyers were working properly. George lost one in a lightning event a few weeks earlier, and although the other one had been working right before the contest, it would not cooperate during the contest. We ended up abandoning both DVKs.

We should have started on 20 meters, and in fact, we should have had one station on 20 meters the entire contest.
